Money through Research Participation

The Center for Cognitive Neuroscience pays participants in one-shot, hour-long experiments as well as in long-term studies. Compensation sounds pretty good: two hours and two appointments of your time can net you $35.

Sign up and find more information at their website.

The Wharton Behavioral Lab and the Department of Psychology also have opportunities to participate in research experiments.

Free Printing on Campus

No one can get enough free printing, so here's a quick list of free printing places on campus. Subject to frequent updating.

Weiss Tech House
Location: Levine Hall in the engineering quad. After entering from Walnut St. opposite Hill College House, take the first door to your right and go up the spiral staircase.
Hours: M 9AM-11PM, Tu-Th 9AM-12AM, F 9AM-5PM (sporadically closed during these hours)
Page Limit: 15/day
Page Limit Enforcement: Supervised by work-study student
Number of Computers: 6
Traffic: Pretty busy
Comments: Weiss Tech House is a nice, quiet study place with study tables, conference room, a coffeemaker and a water cooler. Just don't stay on the computers for too long at peak times – it gets busy when people stop by to print something on the way to class.

LGBT Center
Location: In the Carriage House (3907 Spruce St.), between Harrison College House (High Rise South) and Gregory College House, also behind Civic House and the church on campus. Directions here if needed.
Hours: M-Th 10AM-9PM, F 10AM-5PM
Page Limit: 10/day ???
Page Limit Enforcement: None
Number of Computers: 4 ???
Traffic: ???
Comments: ???

PAACH (Pan-Asian American Community House)
Location: In the ARCH Building on 36th and Locust. The rooms are on the first floor, to the right and towards the back.
Hours: M-F 5PM-9PM ???
Page Limit: 10/day ???
Page Limit Enforcement: Supervised by work-study student
Number of Computers: 4 ???
Traffic: ???
Comments: No, you don't need to be an Asian to use the printing facilities. Be sure to sign in, though; the house wants to keep track of how many people use the service.

CETS Printer (Engineering students only)
Location: CETS Office, 164 Levine Hall
Hours: ???
Page Limit: 5/day
Page Limit Enforcement: Required logon to system
Number of Computers: ???
Traffic: ???
Comments: CETS is Computing and Educational Technology Services in the Engineering School. It is the only place I know that provides free color printing. I don't know a whole lot about it, as I'm not an Engineering student, but you can find out more about printing policy and how to go about doing it here.

M&T Building
Location: 3537 Locust Walk
Hours: ???
Page Limit: ???
Page Limit Enforcement: None?!
Number of Computers: ???
Traffic: ???
Comments: I've only heard rumors about this printing place from my M&T hallmate, so its existence has not been confirmed. Unlimited free printing sure is alluring, though.
